LOCAL AND OFFSHORE SLACK CHART

Check out the Portland Tide Times before your visit and for planning. We advise the state of tides (neap vs. springs) be taken into account when calculating approximate slack window as well as maximum depth on deeper sites.

The following information is for reference only. You obviously need to plan your own dives and cross reference the data you use. Slack times are closest to what has been used by boat skippers for years but also depend on the state of the tide and various other factors.  Plan your own dive and slack times on the date of the dive. The information is best used together with the Portland Tidal Streams Atlas and annual Tide Tables. Please do not forget to make any required adjustments for British Summer Time. Enjoy your dives!

Also, don't forget to take a look at our top recreational dives from Portland pages for more information and follow our daily photographic updates on Chesil Beach Watch.
