Challenging and rewarding best describes the PADI Rescue Diver course. This course will expand your knowledge and experience level. Rescue Divers learn to look beyond themselves and consider the safety and well being of other divers. Although this course is challenging, it is a rewarding way to build your confidence.
Rescue Diver training will prepare you to prevent problems and, if necessary, manage dive emergencies. Many divers say this is the best course they’ve ever taken. You’ll cover:
- Self-rescue and diver stress
- Emergency management and equipment
- Panicked diver response
- In-water rescue breathing protocols
- Egress (exits)
- Dive accident scenarios
Why PADI Rescue Diver?
This three to four day course will expand your knowledge and experience beyond purely recreational level because you’ll learn to look beyond yourself and consider the safety and well being of other divers. Although this course is serious, it is an enjoyable way to build your confidence. The PADI Rescue Diver certification is a prerequisite for all professional level PADI courses like PADI Divemaster as well as the highly sought after PADI Master Scuba Diver rating.
What do I need to start?
PADI Advanced Open Water Diver or PADI Junior Advanced Open Water Diver certification with 20 logged dives. Successful completion of a sanctioned CPR program within the past 24 months (see Emergency First Response). Minimum age: 15 years old (12 for PADI Junior Rescue Diver)
What is included?
Rescue Diver Manual, water-proof Accident Management Workslate, Wall certificate and Badge. You only need to cover your own boat fees.
Emergency First Response
This one-day medic first aid course trains you in first aid and CPR, and meets an important prerequisite for the PADI Rescue Diver certifications. After the Emergency First Aid Primary Care course you’ll be able to apply your first aid and CPR skills to the unique needs of diving and by the time you finish the Rescue Diver course, you’ll be a qualified First-Responder, whether an accident occurs in or out of the water. This course also meets the HSE requirements for Appointed Person in a workplace.
Why Emergency First Response?
Emergency First Response gives you the tools you need to perform CPR and First Aid. Whether you’re a diver or a non-diver, Emergency First Response prepares you to properly handle potentially life-threatening situations.

No dive certification required. No minimum age limit.
What will I do?
This comprehensive program is composed of two core modules that can be taught in tandem or as stand-alone courses: Emergency First Response – Primary Care and Emergency First Response – Secondary Care. Together, these courses proved extensive instruction in CPR and First Aid, as well as providing optional (yet recommended) Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and Emergency Oxygen sections.
