Advanced Open Water Diver

Exploration, Excitement, Experience...

At Underwater Explorers we place great emphasis on PADI Advanced Open Water Diver training.

Because we run all of our courses in the sea, we give you the knowledge, experience and skills to plan and conduct ocean dives from shore or off a boat. The skills you learn here are easily then applicable to any inland sites too.

You don’t have to have 'advanced skills to do the AOW course – because it’s designed so you can go straight into it after the PADI Open Water Diver course.

WE GOT THE EDGE

The PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course fee of £300 includes all air fills, required manuals & materials, certification, basic equipment and suit hire as well as local boat fees where boat dives are required. During your training we also cover the essentials of reel and SMB use, tide tables and charts, various boat and shore entry, exit methods - and even techniques on diving in currents or lower visibility.

On successful completion of this course, you will be more experienced, feel more comfortable in the water and simply enjoy diving more because you understand the underwater environment better. And you'll have learned a lot of skills to practice and perfect on your upcoming dives.

This course includes five dives at UE: The two core dives are Underwater Navigation and Deep Dive. And three of the following:

Nitrox
Wreck

Boat
Drift
Night
Peak Performance Buoyancy
Underwater Photography
Search and Recovery

What will I need?

Unless you have a dry suit or arrangements have been made to run a dry suit course with us, 7 mm Everflex wetsuits are available for student training free of cost. Other than thermal protection you will definitely need a torch, cutting tool and signalling device on all dives. If you don't have any of these, let us know.

For safety reasons a reel and an orange Surface Marker Buoy (SMB) are required on all dives outside of Portland Harbour and during harbour dives where a fixed reference line is not used. On drift and wreck dives outside the harbour each diver is required to have an individual SMB and reel. Some of these additional equipment can be provided by the centre depending on availability.

Underwater Explorers offers a 10% discount on all purchases of safety equipment by our students for the duration of the courses from the moment you register to completion of your course and certification (offer applicable to SMB, reel, cutting tool, whistle).

Our suggestion is don't rush to buy anything for the course itself and make a knowing decision during or after your training.

* For hygiene & comfort reasons, we do not provide masks, snorkels or boots. These can be purchased from Underwater Explorers on special student discount.
